Obituary for Edward D. Jergens

Edward Donald Jergens, 96, of Palm City, passed away October 26, 2017.

He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and has lived in Palm City since 1986, having relocated from Hurst, Texas. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in WWII with the 97th Bomber Group, 15th Air Force. . He was a B17 Pilot and took part in the Ploesti oilfield raids earning him two Distinguished Flying Crosses. He was an experimental test pilot with Bell Helicopter, and was also the original test pilot for the CH-47 Chinook. Don was a founding member of the Treasure Coast Rowing Club.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Janet Jergens of Palm City; daughter, Dana Diemer of Raeford, NC and son, Christopher Jergens of Niceville, FL; and 2 grandchildren, Andrew Edward Diemer and Taylor Michelle Jergens.

Entombment will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City.
