Obituary for Achille Garritano

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend to All

Achille Garritano, 78, of Stuart, Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic of Florida after he fought a long and courageous battle undergoing open heart surgery. Achille was born October 12, 1938 to Eugenio and Adelina (Mannarino) Garritano in Fiumefreddo, Italy, the third of five children. He met his beautiful bride, Teresa Rosina Nocito, in Montevideo, Uruguay and they married in 1962 in Mamaroneck, New York.

Achille is survived by his wife, Teresa of 54 years; daughters, Adelina (Paul) Nesbit, and Lisa Garritano; son, Gene Garritano; grandchildren, Melissa (John) Murphy, Stefanie (Cole) Eastburn, Emily McKim, Erin and Ethan Nesbit, Leah (Deion) Ryder, Noah Garritano, Robinson (Stacey) Green, Jazmine Spence, Desirae, Sam, and Levi Frisbie, and Courtney (Heath) Peregrine; brothers, Frank (Giulia) and Dante (Gina) Garritano; sister, Rita Nocito; cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Achille was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Antonio Garritano; sister, Nella DiSanto; and son, David Garritano.

In 1961 Achille began a long career in the automotive industry in New York, where he co-owned a Service Center for more than 20 years before moving to Florida in 1981 and became a home builder. Achille loved to spend time with his family and friends, and loved to travel. He enjoyed writing and painting, and was actively involved in baci ball, golf, boating, and swimming. He will be especially remembered for his devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Martin de Porres in Jensen Beach. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Palm City. Flowers are welcome or contributions may be sent to St. Martin de Porres or the Cleveland Clinic of Florida.
