Obituary for Madison Lane ""Maddie"" Demers

Madison Lane ""Maddie"" Demers
It is with great sorrow that we share the passing of Madison “Maddie” Lane Demers, age 10, on January 5, 2017. She fought a courageous battle with a rare form of bone cancer and gracefully surrendered while surrounded by her loving family, who comforted her in her final moments. Born on July 27, 2006 she was raised in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, where she served as the captain of the Renegades Cheer Squad for several years. She attended school and church at Liberty Baptist and her faith was very important to her. Maddie supported many causes, among them childhood cancer, and even as a very young child she organized fundraisers for other children who were sick. She was a kind and beautiful soul who will be missed by all who loved her.

Maddie is survived by her parents, Mike Demers and Barbie DiMatteo, and her beloved sister, Mackenzie. She is also survived by her paternal grandparents, Roger and Annette Demers and her maternal grandfather, Philip DiMatteo. She leaves behind her aunts and uncles, Kevin and Connie Demers, Rich and Theresa Hohendorf, Brian DiMatteo, Jack and Michelle Parolski, Anthony DiMatteo and Sarah Arden in addition to her cousins, Nikalis and Michael Demers, Trey and Ella Parolski, Anthony and Nicholas DiMatteo and Luc, Hieu and Tai Nguyen. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara DiMatteo.

Viewing hours for Maddie will be held at the Forrest Hills Funeral Home in Palm City, Florida on Friday, January 13th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. There will be a church service at Liberty Baptist in Fort Pierce, Florida on Saturday, January 14th at 11:00 am.

Flowers may be sent to Forest Hills and donations in Maddie’s name may be made directly to the Pediatric Sarcoma Research Fund, c/o Jenifer Berlovan at S20 9500 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44195-0001, where her dedicated Oncologist, Dr. Peter Anderson, conducts his clinical research.
