Obituary for Mary Spaulding Sullivan (Spaulding)

Mary Spaulding Sullivan (Spaulding)
Mary Isabelle Spaulding Sullivan (Teenie) passed away peacefully at her home in Palm City, Florida on November 18, 2016. Born in Washington, DC 99 years earlier, to the day, she was the oldest of 5 siblings. She was the daughter of the late John William and Jennie Branson Spaulding. She was married to the late Edwin Kemper Sullivan for 64 years; together they raised 5 children in Bethesda, MD.
Teenie was an active volunteer in her community and church, and involved with many charity events particularly for the Crittenden Home, St. Joseph’s Home for Boys, and the Potomac Women’s Republican Club. She was fond of history and the arts, was an avid reader, and a competitive bridge player. She and Kemper were members of Kenwood County Club and Stuart Yacht and Country Club. They had a large circle of friends, were remarkably sociable, and traveled the world. After a few decades of spending winters in their home in Florida, they relocated there permanently in 2000.
Teenie is survived by her 5 children: Edwin Kemper Sullivan, Jr. (Carolyn), Richard Atwood Sullivan (Margaret), Peggy Ann Sullivan, Mary Jane Pecynski (John), and Charles Francis Sullivan (Susanna); along with 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Francis P. Spaulding.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A private memorial service will be held.
